“All the Places I’ve Lived” Community performance and storytelling workshop

March 22, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

ADJUSTMENTS TO THIS EVENT TO ENSURE PEOPLE’S SAFETY ARE UNDER CONSIDERATION. CHECK BACK BEFORE 3/22 FOR UPDATE.

Community members are invited to join us in a workshop in which they will meditate on the physical spaces we inhabit, and the personal stories evoked by the act of remembering those spaces. Attendees will learn about Talsma’s “All the Places I’ve Lived,” and then draw basic floor plans of the places they have lived. Their own personal place-memories will be the basis for the storytelling portion of the performance workshop.

“All The Places I’ve Lived” was an installation and site-specific performance by Bill Talsma. He created architectural-style floorplan drawings from memory of the fifteen places he lived which have been permanently printed on the surface of fifteen separate 4’ x 3’ dry erase boards. Part sculpture, part drawing project, part sound event, part performance, the original presentation of these objects included a handful of volunteer performers who became Talsma’s voice. Audiences were encouraged to come and go as they pleased throughout the duration of the performance.
