Mask Making for Mutual Aid

April 16, 2020 - April 30, 2020

Join PO Box Collective to contribute to Love & Protect and Moms United effort to ship over 5000 masks to women in Illinois prisons: “Prisons are not safe for humans. While our focus is to #FreeThemAll, masks are a way to reduce harm caused to our people inside. While we should not have to do this and prisons should provide supplies to keep our people healthy and safe, people inside are also getting sick fast.”

Info on the project is here:

JOIN OUR COHORT! We want to organize enough folks that we can make 1000 masks together as quickly as we can. IF YOU WANT TO JOIN, we’ll each pledge to make a certain amount, and then get together on a Zoom meeting (or two) to swap pro-tips, troubleshoot, and encourage each other.

If we can get 40 people pledging to do 25 masks we have 1000! And of course, more or less is totally fine…

We are using a simple design that can even be hand sewn if necessary.

There may be some resources available to help people with materials if needed.

IF YOU WANT TO JOIN IN, GO TO OUR FACEBOOK EVENT AT: https://www.facebook.com/events/691070491438621/
— LET US KNOW HOW MANY MASKS YOU PLEDGE TO MAKE! Once you get the hang of it you can make 1 mask in 20-30 minutes.

American Friends Service Committee–Chicago, STOP CVE Coalition- Chicago and PO Box Collective are organizing this effort in support of the project initiated by Love & Protect and Moms United Against Violence and Incarceration.
