Movie Night: “Pay It No Mind” + “Happy Birthday, Marsha!”

“Pay It No Mind: The Life and Times of Marsha P. Johnson” centers on the final interview with Marsha “Pay it No Mind” Johnson — revolutionary trans-activist, Stonewall instigator, Andy Warhol model, drag queen, sex worker, starving actress, and Saint. (dir. Michael Kasino, 2012).
Also screening, “Happy Birthday, Marsha!”– a fictional short film that imagines transgender rights pioneers Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera in the hours leading to the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City. (dirs. Reina Gossett and Sasha Wortzel, 2018).
As we celebrate Pride, let’s come together to address the rampant violence again transgender women of color.
