The March event features I.S. Jones, Binx Perino, and Jules Wood:
I.S. Jones is an American / Nigerian poet and essayist. Her works have appeared or are forthcoming in Guernica, Washington Square Review, LA Review of Books, Prairie Schooner and elsewhere. She is currently an instructor with Brooklyn Poets and the 2023 Bread Loaf Rona Jaffe Scholar in poetry. Her chapbook Spells of My Name (2021) is out with Newfound. She is at work on her debut collection of poems.
Binx River Perino is a queer poet from Texas. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College and his work has appeared in Door is a Jar, Beyond Queer Words, samfiftyfour, Cold Mountain Review, and elsewhere. Based in Chicago, he has been a frequent guest reader for new words {press} and occasional contributor for Third Coast Review. He is also a film photographer and community organizer with the Chicago chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America.
Jules Wood is a queer poet, performance artist, and teacher living in Chicago. She holds an MFA in poetry from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Her poetry has appeared in Berkeley Poetry Review, Lana Turner Journal, Nat. Brut, and Jet Fuel Review, among other journals, and one of her poetry films screened at the Vancouver International Burlesque Festival last year. Jules performs burlesque and other performance art around Chicago under the stage name Catty Wompass.
