Tzedek Chicago is hosting a class at the PO Box, “Queering Jonah: Jonah as a Coming Out Narrative.”
Through sharing in a close read of the Book of Jonah, participants will gain an understanding of the figure of Jonah coming out as a prophet and coming to terms with his life’s purpose. What can looking at Jonah with queer perspectives teach us about coming out, self-acceptance, and the importance of engaging from the margins?
No previous experience with Jewish texts or queer theory required.Taught by Assistant Clergy Jay Stanton.
